St. Louis Outdoor Family Photos

There’s something special about St. Louis outdoor family photos when a family brings pieces of their everyday life into the session. Instead of simply showing up for pictures, this family brought along the things that make them them—and I loved every minute of it.

Personalizing Their Session

We spent time enjoying the outdoors together, specifically the nature playscape (see another session at that location, here!), and the family brought a bubble machine, adding plenty of playful moments! Their little girl loved chasing and running through the bubbles. They also brought a bike, representing something this family genuinely loves to do together: ride. The sweet girl even brought along a favorite stuffy, which even made its way into a few photos (it was so cute to see her snuggling it!). Those little details might seem simple, but they can make such a difference in telling a family’s story!

I always encourage families to personalize their sessions whenever possible. Bring the things your kids love, incorporate an activity you enjoy doing together, or simply think about what makes your family unique. Those are often the moments that create the most genuine expressions and the images you’ll treasure long after the session is over.

What meant the most to me was hearing their feedback at the end of our session. When I sent the preview images, the mom told me that I really understood the job and that they felt well represented in their photos, which is the best compliment in my book! That is exactly what I hope every family walks away feeling.
