Sugarwitch branding session

I had the best time capturing branding images for Sugarwitch! This is an ice cream shop run by a wife, wife team who are just the kindest people ever! They make ice cream sandwiches, pints, and cones all of which are amazing. We were lucky enough to be able to capture this session in their new kitchen/store front space which is the site of the old Carondalet bakery. It is full of cool old baking tools and lots of great natural light! We had no issues finding good spots to take pictures.

When talking to Sophie and Martha during their planning session, I quickly realized there were a few things that they really wanted to project about their business. 1. That they are a community oriented business, 2. They are big proponents of an equitable food system with fair labor practices and 3. They love the joy of creating good, high quality ice cream for others. Because of this, not only did we make sure to capture them as they were making the ice cream (the process), we also made sure to capture the whole Sugarwitch team as they work collaboratively. I also asked them to print out some of the labor practices resources they use and bring some of the books they reference.

Of course, we also made sure to capture the process from planning out flavors, prepping flavor ingredients (look at them going to pick their mint!), to making and taste testing the ice cream. At the end we also made sure to capture some fun headshots and personality type pictures of Sophie and Martha so they could connect with their audience even more! I always say, you are your greatest marketing resource!

Overall, we had a great time together and I really enjoyed getting to know the team and getting to see the behind the scenes of making ice cream. As you may know I’m a huge fan of ice cream and their sandwiches are top teir! Sugarwitch will be having extended hours this summer and you can find them on Instagram @sugarwitchic
